The Rovers put up an excellent display to hold Manchester United to a 0-0 draw last weekend and could have had pulled off an upset if they had been more clinical in front of the goal. Manager Sam Allardyce was delighted with his side’s performances and will be eyeing a spot in the top half before the end of the season.

With his side sitting comfortably in the mid table, Allardyce will be happy with his side’s form so far this season and will be looking to add to the squad as he looks to build on his side’s performances and once again establish Blackburn as a top half side in the league.

Meanwhile Everton will be looking to pounce on Liverpool’s dropped points against Fulham last weekend and move within three points of a European finish in the midweek when they take on Aston Villa.

Mikel Arteta remains a major doubt for Everton with the Spanish midfielder yet to recover from his groin strain though Joseph Yobo should be available for selection. Yildiray Basturk and Lars Jacobsen will undergo a late fitness test for Blackburn with the duo not yet back to full fitness.
