The Rovers climbed out of the relegation zone in a fantastic manner by beating Hull 2-1. Goals from Stephen Warnock and Keith Andrews in the 34th and 37th minutes respectively ensured that Ian Ashbee's goal for Hull was in vain. The win sent Blackburn to the 17th spot with 26 points from 27 games.

They have gotten out of jail on a temporary basis mainly due to their better goal difference since Middlesbrough and Stoke have the same number of points as well.

 

 

Manager Sam Allardyce will be delighted with his side's progress and will hope they can keep up the same level against Everton during the mid-week game. Midfielders Vince Grella and David Dunn continue to be doubtful starters with groin and hamstring injuries respectively, but otherwise Allardyce has a full squad to choose from.

Everton continued to make steady progress towards claiming a spot in Europe next season by beating relegation-threatened West Brom 2-0. Goals from Tim Cahill and Louis Saha gave the Toffees all three points and took them to the sixth spot on the league table with 44 points from 27 games.

 

 

Manager David Moyes will be happy with his team’s progress and can even entertain dreams of getting the fifth spot thanks to Arsenal's miserable form of late. Moyes is without first choice striker Victor Anichebe, who is out for three weeks with a knee injury, while Mikel Arteta is out for the rest of the season. Yakubu and James Vaughan continue to be long-term absentees.
