The Rovers had failed to win a single match since beating Bolton Wanderers back in November last year but goals from Christopher Samba and Ryan Nelsen were enough to help them secure a comfortable 2-0 win over Fulham last weekend.

The win lifted Blackburn to 12th in the league table, five points clear of the drop zone and manager Sam Allardyce will be hopeful that his side can maintain a respectable distance from the relegation zone.

Lars Jacobsen, Vince Grella and Jason Roberts are all out action due to injuries though El-Hadji Diouf and Morten Gamst Pedersen are back in contention after missing out the match against Fulham due to suspension and injury.

Meanwhile Wigan Athletic coach Roberto Martinez will be expecting an improved performance from his side after they were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw by League Two side Notts County in their FA Cup match.

The Latics are yet to find some sort of consistency under Martinez and have won just one of their last six games. Paul Scharner remains the only serious doubt for Wigan with the defender yet to recover from his ankle injury.
