The Rovers were unlucky to come away with just one point from their Boxing Day clash against Wigan despite taking a lead in the first half through Benni McCarthy. Hugo Rodallega equalized for Wigan and although the Rovers had some late chances they had to be satisfied with one point.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will be disappointed that his side was unable to take advantage of a depleted Everton side. The Black Cats have managed to collect just six points from a possible 30 in their last 10 games. Nevertheless he will hope his side can end the year on a high with a facile win against Blackburn. Michael Turner will serve the second of his four-match ban in this game, but skipper Lorik Cana should be fit to start at Ewood Park.
