Leading Blackburn scorer Roque Santa Cruz was forced to pull out of a Paraguay match due to tendinitis in his knee. The 26-year-old striker could be out for up to six weeks according to initial reports.
This is bad news for Blackburn, who have relied on his creativity to see them through tough situations this season. Meanwhile Maceo Rigters, who joined Blackburn in the summer from NAC Breda, has insisted he would like to go out on loan if he continues to be on the bench. Blackburn are sixth in the Premiership table with 15 points from eight games.
Reading on the other hand managed to get out of the relegation zone in their last game against Derby. Kevin Doyle's lone strike was enough to send Reading to the 12th spot on the table. But the side is also struggling with injuries that will certainly worry Royals boss Steve Coppell.
Reading winger Glen Little is out for six months after an operation on an Achilles tendon. Reading recovered nicely from a trashing at the hands of Pompey and will look to build on the Derby win when they travel to Blackburn. Reading are 12th on the Premier League table with 10 points from nine games.
