A 4-0 thrashing by Liverpool last weekend condemned Burnley to relegation and though the Clarets put up a good performance in the first half, they were completely outplayed by a rejuvenated Steven Gerrard who scored a brace while Maxi Rodriguez and Ryan Babel were also on target.

The defeat has increased pressure on manager Brian Laws who has lost 13 of the 16 games he has been in charge. Speculation has increased that Laws will leave the club in the summer but the 48-year old reiterated his commitment to the club and said that he wants to lead Burnley back into the Premier League next season.

Meanwhile Birmingham City will be hoping to secure an easy victory that will all but guarantee their best finish in the Premier League for nearly five decades. The Blues have had an excellent season and manager Alex McLeish will be hoping that his players will not become complacent for the final two games of the season.
