Bolton Wanderers will be hoping to make use of their excellent Carling Cup display to register on their second Premier League win when they take on newly promoted side Birmingham City on Saturday. Watch all the Premier League live action here on Live Sport Network

The Trotters are off to an inconsistent start to the new season and just four points from their first five games has seen the cub sit one place above the relegation zone thanks to a better goal difference compared to Blackburn Rovers.

However manager Gary Megson will be optimistic of a change in fortunes with his side bouncing back from three defeats in their first three games with four points from their last two matches. Bolton followed up on their 1-1 draw against Stoke City last weekend with an excellent 3-1 win over West Ham in their Carling Cup fixture with Kevin Davies, Gary Cahill and Johan Elmander hitting the back of the net.

Meanwhile Birmingham City could be heading towards exciting times ahead after Hong Kong businessman Carson Yeung formally lodged his takeover bid for the club. Yeung had failed in his initial attempt two years ago when Birmingham were relegated to the Championship but has stepped up his interest and is expected to complete the process by the end of next month after both David Sullivan and Karren Brady confirmed that they are willing to sell their 50% stake at the club.

Things are looking rosy on the field too with Birmingham off to a decent start that has seen them collect seven points from their first six matches and with the club dumped out of the Carling Cup by Sunderland on Tuesday, manager Alex McLeish will be looking to consolidate on their start as he looks to assure Premiership safety as soon as possible.
