The Blues are going through an excellent run of form and have won their last three games including a 3-2 win over Wigan Athletic last weekend. The Latics had taken a first half lead through Charles N'Zogbia but three goals in space of 11 minutes in the second half saw Birmingham take a 3-1 lead and though Jordi Gomez managed to reduce the deficit, the Blues hung on to claim all three points from the game.

Manager Alex McLeish expressed his delight at the result, adding that his side deserves their place inside the top half of the league table. While safety from relegation remains the main aim of the club, McLeish will be hoping that his side can maintain this form for the remainder of the season and mount a serious challenge to finish inside the top half of the table.

McLeish will be fancying his chances against a West Ham side that is struggling defensively. The Hammers have conceded 13 goals in their last five games including a 4-0 defeat against Manchester United last weekend.

Manager Gianfranco Zola has challenged his side to win their next two matches against sides that are tipped to finish in the lower half of the table. A 5-3 win over Burnley has helped the Hammers climb out of the drop zone but with Wolves and Portsmouth both boasting better form that West Ham, the club could soon be sucked back into the relegation zone.
