The Cottagers have a tough Christmas schedule playing Tottenham on Boxing Day and then facing fellow strugglers Birmingham before welcoming Chelsea for the New Year's league fixture.

The Blues were beaten by Bolton Wanderers 3-0 at the Reebok stadium in last weekend's clash and will look to recover against Middlesbrough as they enter a hectic period of the season. After their Fulham clash, Birmingham have the big three in the form of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea to contend with.

New boss Alex McLeish will be aware his team needs to churn out the results against low ranked teams if they are to survive in top flight football for the next season. Parnaby and Oubina continue to be sidelined with ankle and knee injuries respectively. However central defender and captain Liam Ridgewell will be back for the Boro clash following his one-match ban against Bolton. Birmingham stay put on the 15th spot in the league table with 15 points from 18 games.

Fulham on the other hand battled gamely in their first match without former manager Lawrie Sanchez, who was sacked following a run of poor results. Clint Dempsey's late goal was enough to secure a 1-1 draw against Wigan Athletic at home in the midweek and that result will have buoyed the Cottagers no end. Caretaker manager Ray Lewington will have been heartened by this result, which put Fulham 17th in the league table with 14 points from 18 games.

However to be fair to Fulham, they have a long injury list. Goalkeeper Kasey Keller is a doubtful starter as is Elliott. McBride, Bullard and Christanval are struggling with knee injuries. Omozusi has recovered from an ankle injury, but is a doubtful starter for the Birmingham game.
