Italy will hope to book a place in the semi-finals of the Euro 2009 Under-21 Championship when they take on Belarus in their final group match at the Olympia Stadium in Helsingborg on Tuesday. You can watch all the live footy feeds from that game by signing up with us here on Live Sport Network.

Belarus put in a gritty display on Friday to hold Serbia to a 0-0 draw, but their hopes of making it through from Group A are all but over. Belarus had goalkeeper Dmitri Verkhovtsov to thank for after some brave saves early on allowed them to settle down and create their own chances.

 

 

Sergei Krivets had a couple of opportunities to tilt the game in his side's favor, but he failed to capitalize on them. Belarus coach Yuri Kurnenin will rue those missed chances, but will be satisfied with his side's showing despite the fact that they may not have done enough to progress in this competition.

Meanwhile Italy recorded their first win of the competition with a 2-1 win over hosts Sweden despite being reduced to 10 men after Mario Balotelli's dismissal after he kicked out at Pontus Wernbloom in the 38th minute. Before that ill-advised action, the Inter Milan striker had put Italy ahead in the 23rd minute with a curling shot that gave Swedish goalkeeper Johan Dahlin no chance at all.

 

 

After the break, Italy doubled their lead when Robert Acquafresca headed in a Sebastian Giovinco corner in the 53rd minute. Sweden pressed on but were unable to break down Italy goalkeeper Andrea Consigli. When Ola Toivonen did put the ball past the latter in the 89th minute, it was too late for Sweden.
