After a disappointing start against TSG Hoffenheim, Bayern Munich play their first home game of the 2009-10 Bundesliga season against Werder Bremen this weekend. Summer signing Ivica Olic gave Bayern a 25th minute lead, but Hoffenheim forward Chinedu Obasi cancelled out the Croatian international's goal sixteen minutes later. Bayern had better possession, and had ten corners to Hoffenheim's three, but were unable to make it count. To add to trainer Louis Van Gaal's woes, Bayern skipper Mark Van Bommel broke his toe in the match and he has now joined Martin Demichelis on the sidelines. Van Gaal is expected to bring in Anatoliy Tymoshchuk for the injured Dutchman, with defender Philipp Lahm taking over the captain's armband from Van Bommel. ![]() 2008-09 UEFA Cup finalists Werder Bremen got off to a poor start to the new season as they were upset 3-2 by Eintracht Frankfurt. Frankfurt took the lead through Ioannis Amanatidis only for Mesut Ozil to equalise for Bremen from the spot. Another Amanatidis first half strike was cancelled out by Boucabar Sanogo, but Eintracht Frankfurt came away with all three points thanks to Martin Fenin's 71st minute goal. Defender Sebastien Prodl, who stood in for the injured Naldo against Eintracht Frankfurt, was sent off , and will miss the game against Bayern. With Naldo not having yet recovered from a thigh strain, trainer Thomas Schaaf will have a tough time creating a defence capable of keeping Mario Gomez and co. quiet.
