Bayern started July off with a goalless draw against Red Bull Salzburg. Fanclub Waging, their next opponents, were destroyed 11-0. A return back home saw them finish third in the T-Home Cup. Stuttgarter Kickers were demolished by a 10-0 margin while FC Koln were seen off 2-0.

Mario Gomez and Bastian Schweinsteiger were the scorers for Bayern against FC Koln as they ruined Lukas Podolski's party. Star winger Franck Ribery missed that game due to a knee injury. Bayern's last game was against an invitational team- McFit Allstars. Bayern won 13-0, with Miroslav Klose scoring five of them.

AC Milan had a poor World Football Challenge Tournament under new coach Leonardo. They lost all their three games, scored fewer and conceded more goals than any other team in the competition. Club America and Chelsea both beat them 2-1, while city rivals Inter eased past the Rossoneri 2-0.

Milan have sold Kaka to Real Madrid, but have not managed to land a major signing in the transfer window. Attempts to sign FC Porto's Aly Cissokho, Sevilla's Luis Fabiano, Real Madrid's Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko have all failed. Standard Liege defender Oguchi Onyewu has signed on a free transfer. A lot will depend on how Ronaldinho plays, but even the former Barcelona and PSG star may not be able to single handedly save Milan's season.
