The Swiss champions have lost their last two games at home and are placed at the bottom of Group C with just one point from five games. That point came courtesy a 1-1 draw against Barcelona on Matchday 4 when a late equalizer from Eren Derdiyok nullified Lionel Messi's strike for the hosts.

Basel started off with a 1-2 loss to Shakhtar and this was followed by a 0-2 loss to Sporting. Basel's campaign was effectively over when they slumped to a 0-5 defeat to Barcelona in their third game. Basel managed to salvage some pride when they achieved a 1-1 draw at Barca, but on the last Matchday, they again suffered a 0-5 loss this time to Shakhtar Donetsk.

 

 

Goals from Willian and Yevgen Seleznov complemented Jadson's hat-trick for the Ukranian side and ensured they will at least compete in the UEFA Cup.

Meanwhile Sporting Lisbon will want to ensure they finish on a high. The Portuguese side are currently second on the Group C table with 9 points from five games.

 

 

They started off with a 1-3 loss against Barcelona, but recovered nicely to post a 2-0 win over Basel and identical 1-0 wins over Shaktar Donestk on Matchday 3 and Matchday 4. However they were stunned 2-5 by Barcelona on Matchday 5 with goals from Thierry Henry, Gerard Pique, Lionel Messi, an own goal from Marco Caneira and substitute Bojan Krkic putting to shade Miguel Veloso and Liedson's efforts for Sporting.
