The Spanish giants registered a comfortable 3-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon in their first match but were up against a tougher opponents in Shakhtar who looked on course to pull of an upset after taking the lead through Ilsinho before Lionel Messi came to the rescue by scoring a brace late in the game to snatch all three points for Barcelona.

 

 

After a stuttering start to his managerial career at Barcelona, coach Josep Guardiola will be keen to maintain his side's return to form after helping them to six straight victories in all competition including a 6-1 thrashing of Atletico Madrid in their domestic encounter.
