The second leg of the knockout stage of the UEFA Cup gets underway this Thursday and Live Sport Network brings you all the action as it happens on the pitch. Sporting Lisbon are all but certain of a place in the next round of the UEFA Cup after a comfortable victory over Basle in the first leg on February 13.

The Portuguese club emerged comfortable 2-0 victory over their Swiss counterparts and only a poor performance in the return leg will see them get eliminated at this stage. Simon Vukcevic scored both the goals in either half as Sporting put behind the disappointment of being eliminated from the Champions League.

The hosts completely dominated the match and took a deserved lead in the 8th minute when Vukcevic was played in by a great pass by Leandro Romagnoli and the midfielder made no mistake from close range. Sporting keeper Rui Patrício was barely tested in the game except in the opening minutes.

Basel were forced to make a change a minute before the break after keeper Franco Costanzo suffered an injury and was replaced by Louis Crayton. However the change had no effect on Sporting's dominance and they doubled the lead in the 58th minute as Vukcevic volleyed Joao Moutinho's cross into the top corner of the net.

This was Sporting's 50th win in the competition from 102 matches and Paulo Bento's side will now have to maintain the momentum in the second leg with Basel undefeated at home in their previous 13 European matches. The Swiss club have not conceded in their previous three matches and Christian Gross' side will have to maintain its excellent home record if it is to survive in the competition.
