The Catalan giants lost their place to Real Madrid after being held to a disappointing 2-2 draw at Almeria last weekend. The defending champions had twice gone behind only for Lionel Messi to equalize on both occasions.

With Real Madrid expected to secure a comfortable victory against Valladolid, coach Josep Guardiola will be expecting an improved performance from his side as he looks to avoid any more slip ups and turn their form around sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile Valencia coach Unai Emery will be hopeful that his side can take full advantage of Barcelona’s poor run of form and come away with all three points this weekend. Carlos Marchena and Miguel are available for selection after missing out last weekend due to suspension while Barcelona could be without Seydou Keita and Eric Abidal who are both injured.
