The Catalans are placed on top of the La Liga table with 43 points from 17 games; two more than rivals Real Madrid. However, they have not had a good start to the New Year and fans are becoming concerned.

Last week Barca beat Tenerife by a 5-0 margin as Lionel Messi scored three goals and Carles Puyol chipped in with another. Meanwhile Sevilla will be hoping to take confidence from their Copa del Rey win at the Nou Camp and repeat the same result in the league as well. However, things have not been so easy for them as well after they slipped to a 1-2 loss to Racing Santander last week.

Sergio Canales scored a brace for Racing in the first half and Sevilla managed to pull one back through Ndri Romaric, but that was mere consolation as they slipped up at home for the fourth consecutive time this season.

Manager Manolo Jimenez will hope that their away form will come good in this game as well. The Andalusians are missing Frederic Kanoute and Didier Zokora, who are away at the African Nations Cup, while Luis Fabiano, Sebastien Squillaci, Lautaro Acosta and Federico Fazio are out through injury.
