Barcelona made it nine wins in a row when they beat Recreativo Huelva last weekend, and in doing so also opened up a three point gap at the top of the La Liga table. Barcelona travelled to Huelva last weekend to face local team Recreativo and with the form they have been showing, the score was never in doubt. Indeed, the 2-0 win, courtesy of second half goals from Lionel Messi and Keita allowed them to open up a three point cushion over second placed Villarreal.

The scary thing for the rest of the La Liga is the fact that Barcelona’s injury and suspension list has shrunk rapidly over the last week or so, meaning their squad is effectively “bigger”, giving them even more choice of who to play. With a goal difference of +28, Barcelona have been producing magical football this term and it’s hard to look past them for the Spanish championship this season.

Getafe lost to high flying Sevilla last Sunday and so find themselves plonked in mid-table with thirteen points; one of ten teams within five points of each other. Their away record is actually better than their home one this season, and they’ve only lost one game on the road and that to Malaga last month. They have a few injuries to deal with for their trip to the Catalan capital but injuries or not, the best result they could possibly hope to achieve is surely the draw?
