FC Basel face a tough trip to Barcelona in their next Champions League group stage match with manager Christian Gross hoping that his side will be able to avoid another mauling on Tuesday. Watch all the footy live here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

Basel were thrashed 5-0 by Barcelona in their last match at the St Jacob-Park with the Catalan giants scoring all five goals inside the first 50 minutes of the game. Barcelona could secure their position in the knockout stages with a convincing victory over Basel regardless of the result between Sporting Lisbon and Shakhtar Donetsk and coach Josep Guardiola will be making sure that there will be no complacency among his players when they take the field on Tuesday.

Barcelona are currently in their best form in nearly two seasons and have won their last 10 matches in all competitions, scoring 34 goals and conceding just seven in the process. With his side closing in on Valencia at the top of the La Liga table, Josep Guardiola will be hoping that his side can maintain their excellent form as long as possible.

 

 

The Catalan giants are the only team with a 100 percent record in the group stage so far and they welcome a team that has lost all of its three matches and has managed to find the back of the net just once. Basel's Champions League live dream is all but over and while there is still a mathematical possibility that his side can make it to the next stage, Gross will be aware that his side will have to be at its best for the remaining three matches if it is to avoid finishing at the bottom of their group table.
