The defending champions will be keen to remain in touch with the league leaders ahead of the all important match between the two teams next weekend. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic rediscovering his form by scoring two goals in the last two games, coach Josep Guardiola will be confident that his side can collect all three points from the game and go top of the table for at least a day.

Meanwhile Athletic Bilbao will be looking for a repeat of the performance from early this season that saw them collect a point against Barcelona.

Bilbao have impressed this season and are currently sixth in the league table, just two points behind Mallorca in the race for the final Champions League place.  Barcelona will be missing Andres Iniesta who is out with a hamstring injury while Athletic could be without Pablo Orbaiz, Oscar de Marcos, Joseba Etxeberria, Aitor Ocio, Ion Velez and Iban Zubiaurre who are yet to recover from their injuries.
