Following their pre-Christmas loss to Real Madrid Barcelona have registered two successive wins in La Liga live by beating Mallorca and Murcia respectively. Racing Santander meanwhile have fought their way to the 6th spot on the La Liga table and have 32 points from 19 games played so far. Racing coach Marcelino Garcia Toral saw his team defeat Osasuna in their last game thanks to goals from Gonzalo Colsa and Pablo Álvarez.

However striker Pedro Munitis is still a doubtful starter having missed the Osasuna clash with a wrist injury. Jose Moraton, Jonatan, Brian Sarmiento, Ebi Smolarek and Oriol Lozano are also sidelined with various injuries and a second-string side could fail to challenge of Barcelona.
