The Galacticos were humbled home and away by Italian giants Juventus and are left needing a win to keep alive their hopes of making it to the next stage. On top of this manager Brend Schuster is under immense pressure as domestic performances in the La Liga have also been far from satisfactory.

Real started off with a 2-0 with over BATE and then a 2-1 win over Zenit St Petersburg. However the subsequent 2 matchdays were horrific for the Spanish champions with Juventus beating them 2-0 and 2-1. The 2-0 defeat at home after Juve captain Alessandro Del Piero scored a brace will have rankled Real fans.

 

 

Schuster may be without Mahamadou Diarra and Ruud van Nistelrooy for this game. The Dutch striker has battled problems with his right knee all season and is currently at the United States for specialist advice. It is expected van Nistelrooy will be out for at least six weeks.

Meanwhile Belarusian champions BATE Borisov are placed bottom of Group H with just 2 points from their four outings so far. The two points were accumulated courtesy of draws against Juventus and Zenit on Matchday 2 and Matchday 3 respectively.

 

 

The Matchday 1 game against Madrid resulted in a 2-0 loss, while the Matchday 4 game against Zenit was also lost by an identical margin. Manager Viktor Goncharenko will be without defender Vladimir Rzhevski for this game as the latter has suffered a broken ankle.
