BATE were beaten 2-0 by Jorge Jesus’ Benfica on Matchday 1 in Portugal. Nuno Gomes and Oscar Cardozo were on target for BATE’s opponents. However Viktor Goncharenko’s side have won all their three domestic league games since that defeat.

They beat Neman Grodno 2-1 on the road, FC Vitebsk 3-1 at home, and most recently beat Granit Mikashevichi 3-1. BATE trailed at half time against Granit, but second half goals from Aliaksandr Volodko, Sergey Krivets and Maksim Skavysh gave the visitors a 3-1 win.

Everton have won their last four games in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and letting in none in the process. They thrashed AEK Athens 4-0 at home in their group opener with Joseph Yobo, Sylvain Distin, Jo and Steven Pienaar scoring. Their most recent game was against Pompey, in which the Toffees beat Paul Hart’s men 1-0 thanks to Louis Saha’s first half strike.

Louis Saha is however suspended for the trip to Belarus. Either Yakubu or Jo will take his place upfront in Everton’s formation. South Africa midfielder Steven Pienaar suffered an injury in the Pompey game, and may be rested if not fully fit. Tony Hibbert missed the first group game through suspension, but is available for this clash. Phil Neville, Mikel Arteta and Phil Jagielka are all injured.
