Joachim Loew's Germany will look to extend their lead at the top of Group 4 to four points when they take on minnows Azerbaijan at the Tofik Bakhramov Stadium in Baku on Wednesday evening. Azerbaijan, coached by former Germany boss Berti Vogts, have only managed to pick up one point from five games in qualifying. They are also the only team in the group not to have scored a single goal. Vogts has however managed to transform Azerbaijan into a well organised outfit, and Odlar Yurdu have only conceded five goals so far.

Azerbaijan's last international game was against Wales, which they lost 1-0. David Edwards scored the only goal of the game. After Germany, the Azeris will take on Finland in September, and they will be keen to make home advantage count in both these fixtures.

Germany sit comfortably atop Group 4 with sixteen points from six games. Joachim Loew's side are yet to be beaten in qualifying, and have already scored eighteen goals- at an average of three a game. A win in Baku would put more pressure on Russia, Germany's main opponents for the automatic qualification spot.

Joachim Loew has chosen to blood new talent, and has left out veteran Torsten Frings out of the squad. Cologne forward Lukas Podolski has been ruled out of this game with a leg injury. Ace hitman Miroslav Klose missed Bayern Munich's Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim with a swollen ankle, but is expected to recover in time for the Azerbaijan tie. Mario Gomez is expected to partner Klose upfront, with Stuttgart's Cacau in reserve.
