Austria managed to snatch a late draw against Poland after a last-minute penalty conversion by Ivica Vastic allowed fans to breathe a sigh of relief. Earlier Roger Guerreiro had given Poland the lead and goalkeeper Artur Boruc had successfully kept out a string of chances that fell Austria's way.

Austria coach Josef Hickersberger needs to come up with a better strategy if he is to stop the Germans from rolling over his side. However Hickersberger was happy that his side had managed to get their first ever point in the Euro finals.

Favorites Germany were stunned by Croatia 2-1 with goals from Darijo Srna and Ivica Olic taking the latter to the next stage of Euro 2008. Although Lukas Podolski pulled one back for the Germans in the 79th minute to set up a tense last 10 minutes, Croatia held on for a famous win.

German coach Joachim Low was despondent with the loss and has said that his side will rectify their errors in the game against Austria. Even a draw will be enough to see Germany through to the next stage.
