France coach Raymond Domenech is under immense pressure to help his side put up strong performances throughout their World Cup qualification campaign and in the World Cup finals if he is to save his job as the national team manager.

 

 

France's poor showing in the Euro 2008 means the World Cup will be the last chance for Domenech to salvage his reputation and remain in the job. However the 56-year old has shrugged off suggestions that his job is on the line, stating that the current situation was no better than in 2004 when France struggled to recover from Zidane's retirement and he is confident that they can bounce back in a similar fashion that saw them go all the way to the World Cup final and ultimately lose to Italy.

Domenech has recalled Samir Nasri, Sebastien Squillaci and Eric Abidal to the national squad after the trio missed France's friendly against Sweden last week. However Willy Sagnol, Francois Clerc, Franck Ribery and Patrick Vieira are all out with injuries.

 

 

Florent Malouda has also been included in the 22-man squad but his participation in the qualifying campaign was thrown into doubt after he attributed his poor form in the Euro 2008 to Domenech, stating that he was not given the same freedom as other players.
