The Socceroos have already qualified for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa, but manager Pim Verbeek will want to see his side challenge the Dutch simply because their Asian Cup campaign is in the doldrums. Australia meet Oman next week in a must-win game if they are to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Australia midfielder Vince Grella has already said that the Holland game pales in significance and that they are more worried about the upcoming Oman match. Coach Verbeek has also revealed that the time for experimentation is over and that he will now focus on trying to assemble the best possible squad for the World Cup.

Meanwhile the Netherlands are also in the happy position of having qualified for South Africa. The Dutch continued their fine showing by beating Scotland 1-0 to dash the latter's hopes of making it to the finals.

Holland coach Bert van Marwijk has called up a strong squad to face Australia, but he will be without Andre Ooijer and Robin van Persie, both of whom are with their wives as they are due to deliver. Ibrahim Afellay and Gregory van der Wiel are out with injuries, while Nigel de Jong also withdrew after sustaining an injury in Man City's clash against Aston Villa on Monday night.

Rafael van der Vaart has been called up despite making just a handful of appearances for Real Madrid. Coach van Marwijk has already told the midfielder that by continuing to stay with the Spanish giants, he is risking being left out of the squad that makes the finals.
