The Los Rojiblancos have had a terrible start to the season and are languishing at the 19th spot on the La Liga table. Last week they were held to a 2-2 draw at Valencia. Sergio Aguerro had given Atletico a 7th minute lead, but Pablo equalized in the 25th minute and David Villa gave Valencia the lead in the 27th minute. Maxi Rodriguez grabbed a last-minute equalizer to rescue a point for the visitors.

Atletico coach Abel Resino is hanging onto his job by a thin thread. His situation was worsened on Wednesday when his side sank to a 2-0 defeat at Porto in the Champions League thanks to goals from Falcao and Rolando. The club's worries are compounded by injuries to Raul Garcia, Mariano Pernia and Ignacio Camacho.

Meanwhile Real Zaragoza have had a good start to the season and are placed 8th on the league table with 7 points from 5 games. Last week they beat Getafe 3-0 thanks to a brace from Abel Aguilar and a goal from Francisco Pavon.

Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral will hope his side can continue in the same vein against Atletico as well. However the side is facing a problem in the strike department after Ikechukwu Uche was ruled out for the rest of the season. Pablo Amo continues to be sidelined as well.
