Atletico moved into the sixth spot with 46 points from 30 games after they beat Deportivo La Coruna 2-1 away from home last weekend. The win also halted a run of successive defeats for Atletico and brought them back in contention for a place in Europe next season.

Goals from Sergio Aguero and Simao Sabrosa in either half negated Rodolfo Bodipo's 87th minute goal for Depor and enabled Atletico to collect all three points.

For this game, the home side welcome back John Heitinga, Maxi Rodriguez and Antonio Lopez from injuries and Luis Perera from suspension. Maniche though is a doubtful starter with a neck injury and will need to pass a late fitness test to take part in this match.

Meanwhile Numancia will look to climb out of the relegation zone by winning this game. The club has had a miserable season collecting just 28 points from 30 games played so far. They are three points away from safety and will need to win a majority of the remaining games to ensure they stay in top flight La Liga next season.

Last week they drew 0-0 against fellow strugglers Espanyol in a game that did not help either team's cause for survival. New boss Pacheta, who succeeded Sergio Kresic earlier this year, knows his side stand little chance against Atletico, but will hope they can come away unscathed from the Vicente Calderon.

Antonio Guayre continues to be sidelined with injury, but Manuel Pavon should be back after missing the Espanyol game through suspension.
