Atletico Madrid are on a high when they welcome French club Marseille to the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid having emerged 3-0 winners at PSV on Matchday 1. Watch all Champions League live action here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

Manager Javier Aguirre can be sure his side will get a thunderous reception at home as this will also be the first Champions League games hosted at the Vicente Calderon in 11 years. Atletico have also increased expectations from their fans after faring so well in a tough encounter in the first game. Goals from Sergio Aguero and one from Maniche capped a splendid performance from Atletico against PSV.

However Atletico will still be without Simao who is out for three weeks after spraining his right knee in a game against Getafe in the Spanish La Liga. Striker Diego Forlan continues to be out with a thigh tear, but Maniche is expected to be fit after recovering from a bruised back in a weekend La Liga encounter against Getafe.

 

 

Meanwhile Marseille need to get their campaign back ion track after losing 2-1 at home to Liverpool. The French giants were just unable to deal with the Reds' attacking prowess even though Lorik Cana had given them an early lead in the 23rd minute.

Manager Erik Gerets watched helplessly as Liverpool's inspirational skipper Steven Gerrard stuck two goals to give the visitors a well deserved win.

 

 

Marseille have not had such a good record away from home losing four games in European competitions after their 1-0 win over Liverpool at the start of the 2007-08 season.
