The Cottagers have been one of the revelations of this season’s Europa League and surprise triumphs over the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus, Wolfsburg and Hamburger SV have left them just ninety minutes away from European glory.

Fulham beat Hamburg 2-1 on aggregate in the semifinals. They produced a shutout against the north German outfit in the first leg and then beat them 2-1 at Craven Cottage to progress to the final. Manager Roy Hodgson is sweating on the fitness of key striker Bobby Zamora, who needed painkillers to feature in the semis against HSV.

Atletico beat fancied Liverpool on the away goals rule in their semifinal. Los Colchoneros lead 1-0 from the first leg in Madrid, but were dominated by the Reds in the return leg at Anfield. However former Manchester United hitman Diego Forlan returned to haunt Liverpool as he came up with an extra time goal to send the Reds out of the competition.
