After a poor start to the season, Atletico have put consistent performances to rise to 4th position in the league table. With the club performing well both home and away, fans will be hoping that their club will manage to qualify for the Champions League come the end of the season.

Atletico secured their fifth win in last 10 matches with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Racing Santander last weekend. Atletico took the lead 10 minutes into the second half through Diego Forlan and the Uruguayan striker put the result beyond doubt by scoring his second of the night in the 73rd minute.

Meanwhile Athletic Bilbao coach Joaquin Caparros will be searching for vital points as he attempts to steer the club away from the relegation zone. Bilbao finished just one point away from the drop zone last season and Caparros will be hoping that his team will be able to escape a relegation battle come the end of the season.

While the club is placed in a relatively safe 16th position, Bilbao are just two points away from 18th placed Deportivo La Coruna. Bilbao have failed to collect a single point off Atletico in the last two seasons but with the club suffering just three defeats in their last 10 matches, fans will be hopeful that their team will come away with at least a point this time around.
