Bilbao qualified for this tournament by virtue of their performance in the Copa del Rey last season. They beat Serbian side Vojvodina 5-3 on aggregate in the third qualifying round, and needed extra time to prevail over Ukraine’s Metalurh Donetsk in the play-off round. Young striker Emin Sulimani was the hero for Vienna, scoring in the 115^th minute to break Ukrainian hearts.

Austria Vienna were beaten 2-1 by Austria Karnten in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Former Tottenham striker Milenko Acimovic scored the only goal of the game for Austria Vienna as Die Veilchen suffered only their second league defeat of the new season.
