After a poor start to the season, Hull seem to have finally found their form with the club collecting eight points from last four matches to climb to 15th in the league table. The Tigers put up an excellent performance to hold Manchester City to a 1-1 draw in their last match with Jimmy Bullard canceling out Shaun Wright-Phillips’ goal late in the second half.

Aston Villa on the other hand will be hoping to snap out of a poor run of form that has seen the club manage just one win in their last five games. While Villa are still in contention for the Champions League spot, manager Martin O’Neill will be aware that his side will have to put up vastly improved performances in their remaining matches in order to achieve their highest ever position in recent years.

Villa go into the match on the back of a good performance against Portsmouth in their Carling Cup match as goals from Emile Heskey, James Milner, Stewart Downing and Ashley Young saw Villa secure a comfortable 4-2 win over Pompey to book a place in the semi finals of the competition.

Downing played his first full match for Villa since his transfer in the summer and O’Neill was pleased with his form in the game and expressed confidence that the winger will prove to be a vital signing for the club as they push for a place in the top four come the end of the season.
