It was a strong return to Champions League football by Juventus who were absent for the last two seasons due to their participation in the match fixing scandal in the Seria A. Juventus visit Bratislava on Tuesday for the second leg in what should be a formality for the Italian giants.

In the first leg almost all of Juve's stars made their presence felt with Mauro Camoranesi, Alessandro Del Piero, Giorgio Chiellini and Nicola Legrottaglie chipping in with the four goals.

 

 

With the league season scheduled to get underway next weekend, manager Claudio Ranieri will be looking to give his fringe players a run out as he will be hoping to keep his key players fresh for a potentially tough tie against Fiorentina on Saturday.

In news that should come as a relief to Ranieri, Giorgio Chiellini may be back in action as early as next month after tests revealed his knee injury is not as bad as feared. Chiellini was injured in a collision with AC Milan striker Alberto Paloschi during the Trofeo Berlusconi. Chiellini looked to be out for the season on initial reports, but detailed tests confirmed his knee damage is not as bad as estimated.
