Croatian striker Eduardo da Silva scored a brace and Denilson added a third as a young Arsenal side strolled into the last eight. Sheffield United beat Port Vale 3-1 in the first round of the League Cup. Lee Hendrie, Stephen Quinn and Danny Webber were on target for the Blades in that game. In the second round, they were thoroughly outplayed by Huddersfield Town, but two late strikes from Darius Henderson and Kyle Naughton saw them clinch an improbable victory. While the Blades have not been in the best of form in the League Cup, they still got the results they wanted. Against Arsenal, they will have to raise their game to another level. Both of Sheffield’s league losses have come away- first to Birmingham City and then to Derby County. One definite absentee for Sheffield will be Matthew Spring, who is expected to take another couple of weeks to return to action. Darius Henderson’s knee injury sees him miss this game too, which leaves Kevin Blackwell with a shortage of options upfront.
