For the Gunners, these pre-season games are crucial as they will tell manager Arsene Wenger exactly who he needs to buy to strengthen the team. Arsenal lost two key players in the transfer market this summer with Emmaneul Adebayor and Kolo Toure heading to Eastlands.

Media rumors indicate Wenger is making a move for Mourane Chamakh, who has also been linked with Sunderland. Wenger will also be keen to see how new signing Thomas Vermaelen adopts to life in the Premier League.
