The Gunners finished third last season with Hamburger SV finishing top ahead of Real Madrid. With Arsenal scheduled to play Rangers in their final match, Wenger will be expecting victories in both the matches as he looks to hit the ground running ahead of the new season.

Arsenal go into the Emirates Cup on the back of losing two of their key players in the transfer window. Emmanuel Adebayor left the club for Manchester City in a deal reported to be worth around £25 million while the Eastlands club also managed to snap up defender Kolo Toure though the transfer fee has not yet been revealed.

With just one signing so far this season, following the arrival of Thomas Vermaelen, and Samir Nasri out of action for at least three months, Wenger is expected to strengthen his team with a couple of new arrivals as he attempts to help his side win a trophy for the first time in more than five years.

Atletico Madrid on the other hand will be confident of taking advantage of the confusion in Arsenal's camp and pull off a deserved victory on Saturday. Having finished fourth in the La Liga table last season, Atletico will be looking forward to a successful pre-season friendly tournament ahead of their Champions League qualifying clash two weeks later.
