Arsenal will be looking to take advantage of the transition period at JJB Stadium to chalk up a convincing victory against Wigan Athletic when the two teams meet in their Premiership clash on Saturday.

Arsene Wenger's young guns have impressed in the start to the new season, winning 9 of their 12 matches played so far and sit at the top of the league table with a game in hand over second placed Manchester United.

With Francesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor on top of their form, Wenger will be looking to maintain their good form right till the end of the season and launch a serious challenge to wrest the title back from their arch rivals.

Meanwhile Wigan Athletic will be hoping for a change in fortunes following the appointment of Steve Bruce as the new manager. Bruce replaced Chris Hutchings who was sacked early this month. Wigan are currently on a run of seven straight defeats that has pushed them deep into relegation zone, after they were briefly top of the league table.

Bruce will be looking forward to a new challenge with the immediate aim of pulling Wigan out of the relegation zone. The former Birmingham City manager has an almost fit squad available with Emile Heskey being the only player out injured.
