The Gunners landed a serious blow to Liverpool's title aspirations with a thrilling 4-4 draw at Anfield on Tuesday with both the teams guilty of glaring defensive mistakes. Arsenal thrice led Liverpool but handed the initiative back to the Kops with a very poor defensive display.

Manager Arsene Wenger will be aware that he will have to find the right combination very quickly or risk being torn apart by Manchester United in the Champions League. With a fourth place finish all but confirmed, Wenger will set his sights on winning his first trophy in four years by claiming the Champions League crown.

 

 

Manuel Almunia is in line to return to the starting lineup after making satisfactory progress in his recovery from an ankle injury but Wenger is expected to persist with Lukasz Fabianski on Sunday. Gael Clichy has recovered from his back injury and should replace Kieran Gibbs in the left back.

Middlesbrough on the other hand will be hoping to avoid a defeat as they continue their struggle to lift themselves out of the drop zone. Boro are currently placed 18th in the league table and are three points away from safety.

 

 

Gareth Southgate's side faces a tough run-in for the remainder of the season with Boro scheduled to play Manchester United, West Ham United and Aston Villa in their remaining four matches while facing a tough trip away to arch rivals Newcastle United next month.
