Arsenal host Italian club Juventus in their opening game of the Emirates Cup at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Real Madrid and German side Hamburg FC are the other two teams to take part in the friendly tournament.

Arsenal start the game as the defending champions having won the inaugural edition last season by beating both Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan, collecting 10 points in the process thanks to four goals scored in the tournament.

 

 

Coach Arsene Wenger will be looking forward to the tournament to sharpen his side's competitive edge after playing three matches against lower quality opponents. With his side also taking part in the Amsterdam Tournament a week later, Wenger will be hopeful that his players will be at the top of their form when the season starts on August 16.

Juventus manager Claudio Ranieri will be eagerly looking forward to the new season as he attempts to put up a close fight for wresting the Serie A title from Inter Milan this time around after finishing 13 points behind the league champions.

Ranieri has strengthened his side by signing three new players so far. Juventus signed striker Amauri from Palermo in a deal worth around 22 million, Christian Poulsen arrived from Sevilla for 7.5 million while Olof Mellberg was snapped on a free transfer.
