After being knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona, Bayern now have to focus their efforts on the Bundesliga when they meet Arminia Bielefeld at the Schuco Arena this weekend. Bayern salvaged some pride by drawing 1-1 with Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal. They were outclassed 4-0 by the Catalans in the first leg, but did better at home, and would have won the game had Seydou Keita not equalised for Barcelona. Playmaker Franck Ribery was again Bayern’s best player on the night. He also scored the opening goal for Bayern.

Bayern crushed Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0 last week, with Ribery, Luca Toni, Lucio and Bastian Schweinsteiger scoring. Miroslav Klose is still out due to injury, and Hans Jorg Butt is likely to keep his place between the sticks, ahead of regular keeper Michael Rensing. Bayern are three points behind leaders Wolfsburg, and are tied on points with Hamburg.

Arminia Bielefeld are just one point above the drop zone, and have lost their last three Bundesliga games. The loss to Energie Cottbus last week was a big disappointment to Bielefeld, and has reignited fears of relegation amongst the club’s fans.

Cottbus took the lead through Dimitar Rangelov just before half time, but Vlad Munteanu’s early second half strike leveled the scores. Stanislav Angelov’s 59^th minute goal ultimately proved to be the difference between the two sides.
