Inter needed a 44th minute goal from Adriano to secure a narrow 1-0 victory over the Greek club in their last match at the San Siro. Anorthosis pressed forward in search of an equalizer in the second half with Nicos Katsavakis, Sinisa Dobrasinovic and Savio all having golden chances to steal a point but Inter hung on with some desperate defending.

Inter have put up some inconsistent performance following Mourinho's appointment and the former Chelsea coach was quick to brush off comparisons between himself and Roberto Mancini, saying that any comparisons will have to wait until the end of the season.

 

 

Goal scorer Adriano is expected to sit out for a third game in a row for Inter with Mourinho taking strict action against the Brazilian forward with reports suggesting that Adriano was at a night club until late night. Striker Julio Cruz is also not expected to feature heavily in Jose Mourinho plans for the future with the Argentinean striker angering his coach with his tactical indiscipline.

The Italian club is in a great position to qualify for the knockout stages after collecting seven points from their first three matches. A win against Anorthosis will take them at least four points clear at the top of the table regardless of the result between Werder Bremen and Panathinaikos.
