The hosts were seemingly poised to start the AFCON on a high note after taking a 4-0 lead within 74 minutes thanks to a brace from Flavio Amado and goals from Gilberto and Manucho. However Mali scripted a stunning comeback scoring four goals in 11 minutes following brace from Seydou Keita and goals from Mustapha Yatabare and Fredi Kanoute to deny Angola a memorable win.

Angola coach Manuel Jose will be keen to see that his team win this game and stay on course for a place in the quarterfinals. Jose will be buoyed by the fact that Flavio showed no signs of his injury against Mali. However Stelvio Rosa da Cruz is a doubtful starter for this game.

Meanwhile Malawi can book a place in the quarterfinals if they win this game. The minnows stunned Algeria by a 3-0 margin in their opening game of the tournament thanks to goals from Russel Mwafulirwa, Elvis Kafoteka and Dave Banda.

Paying in only their second Nations Cup, Malawi can give fans something to cheer about should they manage to upset the hosts on Thursday.
