Barcelona will have be at their consistent best for the remainder of the season starting with their clash against Almeria this weekend if they are to have any chance of reclaiming their league title from Real Madrid.

Two defeats in their last two matches has left Barca eight points behind league leaders Real Madrid with just 11 matches to go. Reports in Spanish media have already proclaimed Real Madrid as the champions expressing doubts that Barca can overcome the eight point difference with the team struggling to string a run of victories.

Barca lost out 2-1 to Villarreal last weekend with the visitors taking the lead from the penalty spot through Marcos Senna in the 31st minute. The Catalan giants tried to stage a come back in the second half and equalized through Xavi in the 67th minute but Jon Dahl Tomasson grabbed the winner for Villarreal nine minutes from time to condemn Barca to their fifth defeat of the season.

With Lionel Messi to miss a major portion of the final third of the season and Ronaldinho not exactly in peak form, Barca will have to curb their attacking instincts and try to churn out consistent results if they are to stay in the title race for as long as possible.

Meanwhile Almeria coach Unai Emery will be pleased with his team's performance so far this season and only a poor run of form for the remainder of the season will see the club get relegated from the La Liga come May. Five wins in their last 10 matches has seen Almeria sit 8th in the league table, eight points above Recreativo Huelva with 11 matches to go.

Fans will be confident that their team will manage to collect the necessary points needed in the remaining matches and stay well away from the drop zone and hope that they can finish in the top of the league table. However they face a tough tie against Barcelona on the weekend after having lost 2-0 to the Catalan giants early this season.
