Al-Hilal comfortably won the Saudi Arabian Premier League last season. Coached by former Marseille gaffer Eric Gerets, the Riyadh based outfit took 56 points from 23 fixtures, a whopping eleven ahead of second placed Al-Ittihad.

Al-Hilal were last seen in action against Romanian side Timisoara. They lost 3-0 to Timisoara. There are several recognizable players in this Al-Hilal side- Romanian defender Matel Radoi, striker Yasser Al-Qahtani and Swedish midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson are three of them.

Liverpool were expected to mount a title challenge last season but had to be content with a lowly seventh placed finish. All of Liverpool’s World Cup players will not be competing in this tournament, meaning that fans will not get to see the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Dirk Kuyt and Fernando Torres in action.
