Ajax finished second in Group A with eleven points. Belgian side Anderlecht, who had the same number of points but a better head to head record against Ajax, took first place. Ajax beat Heerenveen 2-0 on Saturday to pick up their third straight win in the Dutch Eredivisie. The capital outfit have been very impressive at home in the league this season- they have taken 31 points out of a possible 33 at the Amsterdam Arena.

Juventus dropped into the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group. The Old Lady lost their last two games to Bordeaux and Bayern Munich as they messed up what should otherwise have been an easy path to the round of 16. Juve’s defenders will have to be wary of Ajax skipper Luis Suarez, who has already notched up more than 20 goals this season.
