On Match Day 2, Ajax travelled to Brussels to take on Anderlecht, where they produced another draw to add to the goalless stalemate they had with Timisoara on Match Day 1. Substitute Dennis Rommedahl gave Ajax the lead in the 72^nd minute of the game. He latched on to Ismail Aissati’s cross, and his first time shot hit the legs of Silvio Proto before going in. However Jonathan Legear snatched a late equaliser for the Belgians, tucking away the rebound after Maarten Stekelenburg had saved Romelu Lukaku’s ambitious bicycle kick.

Ajax crushed Willem II 4-0 in the Eredivisie on Sunday. Captain Luis Suarez missed an early penalty, but Ajax deservedly took the lead just before half time through Eyong Enoh. Suarez atoned for his miss with a late goal after strikes from Miralem Sulejmani and Marko Pantelic had ended the game as a contest.

Dinamo recovered from an opening day loss to Anderlecht to beat Timisoara 3-0 in Romania. Milan Badelj’s eighth minute strike gave Timisoara the lead at the half way mark, and second half strikes from Sammir and Pedro Morales sealed a 3-0 win for Krunoslav Jurcic’s men.

Dinamo suffered their first defeat in this season’s Croatian league when they were beaten by Zagreb on Saturday. Davor Vugrinec scored the only goal of the game shortly after the hour mark. Despite the loss, Dinamo still retain a commanding seven point lead over second placed Cibalia.
