Rangers moved to within two points of Celtic at the top of the SPL last weekend when they beat Falkirk at home while Celtic lost away to Rangers opponents this week, Aberdeen. Last Saturday Rangers defeated Falkirk in a tempestuous affair at Ibrox. Falkirk took a shock lead as early as the 12^th minute and Rangers had to wait until one minute into injury time at the end of the first half before they snatched an equaliser. The league’s top scorer Kris Boyd blasting home from a hotly disputed penalty.

In the second half things started to heat up and in the 51^st minute Falkirk’s Cregg was sent off for what was deemed to be a dangerous tackle. In the 77^th minute Rangers’ Papac followed Cregg when he was also dismissed with a straight red card for a “cynical” tackle. The Blues managed to break Falkirk’s resistance in the 80^th minute with another goal by Boyd and sealed matters with a 91^st minute goal by Davis.

This Saturday coming Rangers face probably their toughest game of the season so far when they make the long journey north to Aberdeen and to face Celtic’s conquerors of last week. They will obviously be without Papac due to his red card against Falkirk but apart from that the team travels in fine fettle. If they manage to sneak the win, it will be a huge statement of intent to Celtic and will get the green half of Glasgow very worried indeed!

As we have mentioned, Aberdeen come into the match on the back of a very impressive home win against Celtic by 4-2. That win elevated them to third in the SPL table with 36 points, one ahead of Dundee United who suffered a surprising home defeat last weekend.
