Aberdeen FC will be looking to register their first points on board as they clash with Lokomotiv Moskva in their UEFA Cup Group B clash this Thursday. Aberdeen began badly in this campaign as they lost 3-0 to Panathinaikos last time around.

Aberdeen were able to make the main draw thanks to their win on away goals against FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the first round. However their opener against the Greek side, which also happened to be their 100th European appearance, was a damp squib.

Aberdeen FC manager Jimmy Calderwood had said before the Panathinaikos game that he wanted his players to enjoy themselves. However one is not sure if his advice is the same after their defeat in Greece. Aberdeen though are hampered with injuries to Darren Mackie and winger Jamie Smith. The former has ankle problems, while the latter is struggling with hamstring injuries.

Scott Severin, Michael Hart, Chris Clark and Andrew Considine all return to the side and that will surely boost Aberdeen. The main worry though is that Aberdeen have scored just two goals in their last four European home games.

Lokomotiv Moskow had a sedate beginning to their UEFA Cup campaign with a 3-3 draw against Atletico Madrid in Russia. FC Lokomotiv Moskva coach Anatoli Byshovets will have pleasant memories of Scotland having scored as a player in Dynamo Kyiv's 2-1 win over Celtic in the 1967/68 season. However he will know that Aberdeen are a different cup of tea altogether. Lokomotiv Moskva are third in Group B with 1 point from 1 game played so far.
