Milan’s slender hopes of overtaking arch rivals Inter at the top of the table were quashed as they suffered a disappointing 2-0 in the derby della Madonnina last weekend. Diego Milito opened the scoring early in the 10th minute and though Inter were reduced to 10 men, Goran Pandev doubled the lead to collect all three points from the game.

The result was followed up by yet another defeat, this time against Udinese that saw the Rossoneri get knocked out of Coppa Italia in the midweek. Coach Leonardo will be optimistic that his side can bounce back from the twin defeats and consolidate on their second position and be in a good position to take advantage of any slip ups by Inter in the remainder of the season.

Milan should secure a comfortable victory against a Livorno side that has lost three of its last four games. The Amaranto are struggling for survival and find themselves just two points above the drop zone with more than half of the season gone.
